The Promoter of Social Justice, Sister Marion Irvine, O.P. works with the sisters and our institutions as a resource person. Through mailings, action alerts, personal invitation, speaking at community meetings, offering days of study and reflection, Sister Marion keeps the sisters attuned to issues of justice.

In a particular way, she focuses on the specific areas selected by the sisters for attention. Prior to the Chapter 2000 gathering, the sisters spent a year studying the issues of capital punishment, immigration, affordable housing and spirituality. Resource materials distributed and discussed by all the sisters helped the assembled delegates to select and act on one issue-- capital punishment. A corporate stance was written and voted upon by all delegates. Currently Sister Marion organizes visits of sisters to a women's prison and volunteer work at Habitat for Humanity, San Francisco.

In addition, Sister Marion works in collaboration with individuals and institutions outside our congregation. She serves as the liaison for the congregation with local, regional and national organizations.Visit some of the following web sites to join us in collaborating with others to bring about God's reign through justice and peace in our world.

Finally, Sister Marion lobbies state and national legislators on justice issues such as non-violience, penal reform, human rights, affordable housing, environmental protection, rights of immigrants, and support for women and children.
